The Department of Special Services provides educational opportunities for students with disabilities as well as those who qualify for the SOAR Program for the Intellectually Gifted.
The SOAR Program is for students in grades 2 through 6 who are intellectually gifted.
To be eligible for the SOAR Program students must achieve a score of at least 120 on an IQ test. Students may be referred by teachers, administrators, guidance counselors, parents, or peers to the Local Survey Committee. The Local Survey Committee reviews nominations and packets completed by teachers. Standardized achievement scores are reviewed. Written prior notice of testing is sent to parents. Parents must give written permission for individual testing. For more information on SOAR, contact your child's home school or call
The mission of the Natchez-Adams SOAR Program is to provide a differentiated learning environment that develops each student's potential and enhances intellectual ability, creativity and decision-making.
